T in the Park organiser Geoff Ellis has unveiled a new list of big-name acts set for the Scottish festival - and revealed that the band set to play the anthem of the weekend has yet to be announced.
He said: "I've got one (anthem), but it's by an artist who hasn't confirmed yet, but I know it will be the anthem."
More of an anthem than Sex on Fire, Mr Brightside or One Day Like This? Intriguing...
Franz Ferdinand, The Specials, Elbow and Lily Allen are among those who will be appearing at Balado this July for T in the Park.
“We’ve got a stellar line-up - Kings of Leon, The Killers, Blur, Snow Patrol and that’s the four headliners over the three days,” Ellis said.
“Then we’ve got Razorlight, Elbow, Ting Tings, Katy Perry, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Lily Allen, the list goes on. T in the Park is always known for its atmosphere, and passion, and excitement among the crowd, and I think that’s really what makes it special.
“The bands provide the entertainment on the stages, but without the audience and the passion they have at the event it wouldn’t be what it was.”
When asked who he was looking forward to, Geoff said: “I think seeing Elbow, they’re a great band and every album’s been critically acclaimed. It’s just now that they’re getting the commercial success that they deserve so it’ll be great to see them on the main stage.”
George Kyle from sponsors Tennent’s added: “Franz Ferdinand coming back is a real coup, and also The Special who have been just announced.
“Geoff had highlighted if you’re 18 or 40 The Specials in terms of their back catalogue and what they’ve represented to British music, it’ll be fantastic to see them at T in the Park this year.”
