Geoff Ellis reveals T in the Park line-up and talks fans and Tom Jones

Geoff Ellis is renowned for saying “this year’s T in the Park is going to be the best yet” but judging by the diverse line-up set to head to Balado this summer, he could be right.

The Festival Director joined George Kyle, head of sponsorship from Tennant’s Lager, to reveal the T line-up this morning and he was delighted to announce headliners Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Foo Fighters.

Geoff rhymed off the impressive list of acts, including music legends Tom Jones and Blondie, which can be seen in full here.

He said: “The headliners are huge and the Foo Fighters are one of the biggest bands in the planet but it is about strength and depth and about having a real diverse line-up and something for everybody in there. If you’re a fan of leftfield up and coming bands, T in the Park is still great.”

Geoff believes that in the current economic climate, T in the Park is still great value for money. He told STV: “It’s fantastic value for money. Demand is so high for the event but we still keep prices low. It’s only £175 for a ticket, £185 if you’re camping. With around 200 bands it works out less than a pound a band. Where else can you see Foo Fighters, Tinie Tempah Plan B or The Script for less than a pound?”

But with so many festivals around the world, why should music lovers choose Balado this summer? Geoff said: “T in the Park has the uniqueness of the Scottish audience and the passion they give out and the bands feed off that. The fans make it what it is.”

While George Kyle is looking forward to seeing Blondie, Geoff can’t wait for Jessie J and Tom Jones.

No-one you fancy on the line-up yet? Don’t worry, there’s more to come. Geoff added: “There’s still a good 140 or so acts to be announced. There’s some other big ones to come and plenty of new and up and coming acts. It’s a real feast in store for everyone who manages to get a ticket.”

Tickets go on sale this Friday and are available from www.tinthepark.com
