Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti is to open the Main Stage on the final day of this year’s T in the Park.

Making history, Nicola will be the first classical artist to open the main stage event in the festival’s history, and she will entertain an estimated 85,000 people at the annual music festival in Balado, near Kinross.

Nicola’s set on Sunday July 8 will no doubt prove to be a talking point at this year’s highly-anticipated event, with festival-goers more used to rock and pop acts entertaining the crowds, and organisers are convinced the West Kilbride performer will be a huge hit.

As well as her solo performance, the violinist will also perform as a special guest alongside the new Creative Scotland Kaleidoscope Club, which is to host a diverse range of performances from country to classical and ceilidh over the weekend.

The 24-year-old Scottish-Italian performer, who started playing the violin at the tender age of just five, has enjoyed a hugely successful career in the music industry, with five albums, a classical BRIT Award, and a number of prestigious performances under her belt.

Rock acts Snow Patrol, Kasabian and The Stones Roses are just some of the other big names also performing at this year’s summer festival.

This year’s T in the Park takes place from July 6-8, with tickets on sale now from www.ticketmaster.co.uk and by calling 08444 999 990.
