Piping Live! is the biggest international festival for piping in the world. During the week ahead of the World Pipe Band Championships, Glasgow plays host to a diverse range of enthusiasts from across the globe who converge on the home of piping to celebrate piping, Highland dancing and everything in between.
Hailing from Isle of Skye, Niteworks is an electronic Celtic fusion band who bridge the gap between traditional Scottish culture and modern music. Gaelic song and bagpipes are brought bang up to date with driving techno and house beats under a wicked synth soundscape.
Now based in Glasgow, the band stay true to their traditional Gaelic influences and have turned the music from their Celtic heritage into something accessible to dance fans.
Piping Live! isn’t their first festival, having played Hebridean Celtic Festival and the Tartan Heart Festival. They’ve also received considerable popular and critical acclaim, winning the Rapal Song Contest with Nam Aonar san Fonnand a dedicated fan following.
After the release of their debut EP ‘Niteworks : Obair Oidhche’ (which is the Gaelic translation of their name)Niteworks have been offering an exciting new wave of dancefloor sounds with their unique blend of pipes, whistles and moogs.
Bringing a whole new edge to Celtic fusion, Niteworks are the perfect addition to the Piping Live! festival for fans looking for something “a wee bit different”.
