Cheryl Cole might have lost out on the top spot in the album charts to teen singer Justin Bieber, but the Geordie singer is keeping her head held high.
The star’s third album, A Million Lights, was widely tipped to storm into the number one position after her latest single, Call My Name, hit the top spot in the singles chart and became the fastest-selling single of the year.
But Biebs, 18, just managed to beat Chezza after his own offering, third album Believe, sold just over 3,000 more copies than the Geordie singer’s A Million Lights.
It’s a cruel blow for Cheryl, who has been denied a hat trick of number one albums and was also knocked off the number one spot in the singles chart by Maroon 5’s Payphone.
But if the defeat bothered her, Chezza refused to show it yesterday, writing on Twitter: “Wow.. What a day/week single and Album both no2 this week..:D!! Thank you so much. Love you loads *bbmhugface*#grouphug #SoldierPower.”

Believe became Justin Bieber’s first number one album in the UK charts, and the Canadian teen seemed rather excited with his latest achievement.
Taking to his own Twitter page, Biebs, 18, wrote: “So Ireland..Australia..Sweden...Taiwan...and others are starting to have #BELIEVE come back at #1!! thank u!! More to come!! but...
“..all the experts said WE wouldnt come in at #1 in the UK...I have never had a #1 album there...but u all BELIEVED.
“Never say never right? this is just the start! thank you for giving this album so much love! #BELIEVE - I LOVE YOU.”
