Scotch Snap: Best film music ever, Coldplay and Human Don't be Angry

I bet you can't guess what the best song from a film was last year. I bet you'll weep when you hear the answer.

Kim Kardashian reads to impress Kanye West. That offers a rich vein of comedy gold. There's a new Coldplay single, but fortunately there's also a new Liars album. The good lord giveth and he taketh away.

Releases shown: Coldplay and Rihanna - Princess of China (out now); Kelly Clarkson - Dark Side; Kaiser Chiefs - Listen to Your Head (from Souvenir, out now); Liars - No. 1 Against the Rush (from WIXIW, out now); Human Don't Be Angry - 1985 (from the album Human Don't be Angry, out now).

*Musical note: the Scotch Snap technically consists of a stressed (ie on the beat) sixteenth note, or semiquaver, followed by a dotted eighth note or quaver. Usually dotted rythms have the longer note first; it is that reversal of expectation that makes the snap so distinctive. It is a key rhythmic signature of Scottish traditional music.
