The Saturdays just can’t get enough of Glasgow at the moment! Fresh from signing copies of new single 30 Days at HMV during the week, they returned to the city on Sunday to headline the In:Demand Live pop festival at the SECC.
It’s the gorgeous girls’ third time playing the event and Mollie King explained that Scottish fans have a special place in the band’s hearts.
She said: “The Scottish crowds are so good and we came up here in December on our tour and they were one of our best crowds, so we’re really excited.”
30 Days was number seven in the UK chart at the weekend and Rochelle said the girls were delighted with the response to the track, adding “everyone seems to love it.”
As the girls dazzled in jewelled corsets, there was one member of the group missing – new mum Una Healy.
Rochelle said: “Una, obviously she’s got the baby so she’s not doing full on shows yet until a few weeks time, so she’ll be back soon.”
Frankie admitted it is weird performing as a four piece, explaining: “It’s so weird when one’s missing. It feels like there’s about eight of you missing, it’s so weird, but we carry on.”
With Rochelle due to marry JLS star Marvin Humes this summer, and Mollie set to wed rugby star Ben Foden, it seems the Saturdays are all grown up… not that Rochelle feels it. She said: “I think I’m supposed to feel really grown up but I don’t!”
And after the wedding celebrations are out of the way, the girls will head back to work on what could be their most exciting venture yet – a new TV show in the US.
The fly-on-the-wall reality TV series that will chart their attempts to try to crack the notoriously tough US music market.
With One Direction and The Wanted making waves across the pond, do the girls feel now is a good time for British bands to break America?
Rochelle said: “The music industry is loving the Brits,” and Vanessa added: “I guess that can only be a good thing.”
