Emeli Sande is to headline a concert at Edinburgh Castle this summer, to mark the arrival of the Olympic torch in the country.

The Scottish singer-songwriter, who has had chart success with hits including Heaven and Next To Me, will perform a free concert at the 8500 capacity venue on the Castle Esplanade, on June 13, the Daily Record reports.

The stunning setting will be the perfect backdrop for the concert, which will see Emeli perform some of her hits from her number one album Our Version Of Events.

Before hitting the big time, Emeli penned a number of songs for artists including Cheryl Cole and Tinie Tempah, before collaborating with rapper Chipmunk on the hit Diamond Rings.

Emeli then featured on Wiley's hit Never Be Your Woman, before tasting solo success with the release of her debut single Heaven, which hit the number two spot in the charts.

The Scottish singing star has gone on to enjoy chart success again, with subsequent singles Read All About It on which she teamed up with Professor Green, as well as Next To Me. The icing on the cherry came when Emeli’s debut solo album stormed to the top of the charts.

Other highlights over the last year have included supporting Coldplay on tour – and Emeli will no doubt be counting down the days until her performance at Edinburgh Castle on June 13.
