Lana Del Rey has lifted the gong for International Breakthrough Act at tonight’s BRIT Awards in London.

The American singer-songwriter was clearly feeling rather emotional about winning the award, as she rushed on stage to accept it from Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am and comedian Rob Brydon.

Looking stunning in a very low-cut red dress with her hair left loose and free flowing, a close-to-tears Lana said: “This award means much more to me than you know and I just wanna say that without the support of everyone is this room and everyone in the UK I’d really be lost so thank you, I love you.”

Lana beat off competition from Aloe Blacc, Bon Iver, Foster The People and Nicki Minaj for the honour. Last year’s winner was Justin Bieber – so it looks like Lana can look forward to an amazing career too, if that’s anything to go by!

Lana has had an amazing start to the year; Born To Die is the fastest selling album of 2012, and now she has won the coveted gong for International Breakthrough Act too.

We wonder if while she’s in the UK Lana will be catching up with her Glaswegian boyfriend Barrie James, the lead singer of Scottish band Kassidy...

The couple are thought to have been dating for around six months.
