Queen of Pop: tickets for Madonna's UK shows go on sale today (February 10)

Scottish Madonna fans will get the chance to snap up tickets for the Queen of Pop’s World Tour from 10am today, when the tickets officially go on sale.

The legendary star is coming to Edinburgh on July 21 this year to perform at the city’s Murrayfield Stadium, for one two UK dates on her World Tour.

Madonna will also perform at London's Hyde Park on July 17, as well as travelling to countries including include Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Poland, Russia and Ireland.

It's the first time the Material Girl star has ever performed in Scotland, despite marrying Guy Ritchie in Skibo Castle in the Highlands in 2000.

The tour kicks off on May 29 in Tel Aviv, and continues right through until November 17, when the Vogue singer performs in Atlanta, Georgia (USA).

The shows will include arenas, stadiums and special outdoor sights including the Plains of Abraham in Quebec and a return visit to South America and Australia, where she has not performed in 20 years.

Tickets for the UK shows – priced between £45 and £125 for her Edinburgh date and between £70 and £125 – go on sale today (February 10) at 10am.

Scottish fans can buy them from www.gigsinscotland.com. More information can be found at www.livenation.co.uk.

Madonna recently made her big comeback with a spectacular performance at the Bridgestone Super Bowl, and she is set to release her latest album MDNA on March 26.

Meanwhile, a man who was convicted of stalking and threatening Madonna has escaped from a psychiatric hospital, police in Los Angeles say.

Robert Dewey Hoskins Hoskins, 54, was sentenced to 10 years in jail in 1996. After leaving prison he spent time in another hospital, before being arrested last July.

He was sent Metropolitan State Hospital in the Los Angeles suburb of Norwalk and escaped on February 3, LA police have confirmed.

Police describe Hoskins as having "very violent tendencies" and say he is not to be approached.

"Hoskins is highly psychotic when not taking his medication," the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.
