Justin Bieber has revealed what a huge inspiration late singer Michael Jackson was to him.
The Canadian star, whose music career skyrocketed after being discovered singing on the internet, said that he tries to channel the same energy the King of Pop gave his own performances.
Speaking at the tribute to Michael at the Hollywood's Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Thursday, Justin told Access Hollywood:
"He's an icon. Every time that I go out on stage, every time I go out and perform, I'm always trying to be the best and that's what he always did.
"There's never gonna be another Michael Jackson as long as anyone lives. I think that he's just incredible and it's an honour to be here."
Bieber also said he was upset to realise that he’d never meet the legendary performer, adding: "I wish I would've been able to meet him… It was really sad that...I basically released my first single the week he passed, so it was really unfortunate.
"So I feel like, it's just really sad. That was one person I really wanted to meet."
MIchael Jackson died aged just 50 on June 25 2009. His personal doctor Conrad Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter of the star in November 2011, after giving him a a fatal overdose of the anaesthetic propofol.
