When we heard Dappy was releasing a solo single called No Regrets, we pictured Robbie Williams’ hit with an N-Dubz style twist and quite frankly we were afraid.
However, Dappy’s No Regrets is completely different (phew) and is an upbeat, catchy little offering that we haven’t been able to get out of our heads since hearing him perform it on Daybreak this morning… and it seems we are not alone.
Dappy’s solo venture has been given celebrity backing by none other than Miss Cheryl Cole – and she knows a thing or two about catchy tunes.
Proving she has No Regrets (sorry) and no hard feelings about Dappy’s cousin Tulisa Contostavlos taking her place on The X Factor, Ms Cole Tweeted: “Loving @TheDappy no regrets.”
Tinchy Stryder is also a fan, tweeting: “If you haven't already go & buy my yunga @TheDappy #NoRegrets & If you have already Go & Buy another copy lol...Let's take him to the TOP ;)”
Tinchy’s plea seemed to work as yesterday Dappy was number one on The Vodafone Big Top 40 real time chart show.
So does solo success and Tulisa’s blossoming TV career spell the end of N-Dubz? Looks like it.
Dappy told the Daily Mirror: "The band is definitely going to quiet down for the next year-and-a-half to two years.
"We may release some stuff every six months but it will definitely be quieter.
"Then, at the end of that period, we will do a Greatest Hits or Best of N-Dubz. Then that'll be it: finished."
