St.Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band has won the Grade 1 competition in the World Pipe Band Championships.
The band was hotly tipped to steal the title from Simon Fraser University after they won the European Championships earlier this year.
For a change at the Worlds, the rain stayed away and approx 55,000 spectators gathered in Glasgow Green for the World Pipe Band Championships 2010, where the Dublin-based band spectacularly triumphed in the top category.
Featuring over 8000 pipers and drummers from 16 nations around the globe, the event has become a highlight of Glasgow's cultural calendar.
People travel from all over the world to watch the Championships unfold and soak up the Scottish atmosphere in style.
This year, there truly was something for everyone. As well as the fantastic music on offer, visitors were given the opportunity to sample fantastic Scottish fare in the Taste of Scotland Marquee and the opportunity to pick up a souvenir at the craft fair.

The competition followed the week-long Piping Live! international festival, which featured a multitude of events taking place around Glasgow. Along with the world championships, Piping Live! has played host to over 16,000 performers.
Tonight the participants will party in style at the After Worlds Shindig where pipers and fans alike can let their hair down and enjoy a dram or two to the sound of the Treacherous Orchestra and the Black Rose Ceilidh band amongst others. Slanjevar!
