All the world's a stage: SuBo keen to perform live for fans
Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle has announced plans to go on tour after recording her new album.
The 49 year- old spinster from Blackburn, West Lothian who shot to fame on Britain’s Got Talent, has admitted she is keen to do more stage work this year.
SuBo, whose BGT audition became an internet phenomenon last year, said she is relishing the challenge of going out on the road to play live.
Speaking about the incredible rise to fame that seen her become a star worldwide SuBo told The Sun:” My plans for 2010 are to do more of the same-that would be great.
“And do stage work that would be really challenging, either to tour or do gala performances. I’d like to do both. It all depends on how much time there is. I want to record my new next album first.”
SuBo’s debut album I Dreamed A Dream has sold over 10 million copies since it was released in Novemeber of last year, netting her a staggering £4m so far in royalties.
And the star admitted she has a few surprises up her sleeve for the follow up.
I Dreamed A Dream was primarily a covers album of Susan’s favourite songs including the Rolling Stones Wild Horses, Cry Me A River as well as popular hymns How Great Thou Art and Silent Night.
But the unlikely global sensation has revealed her new album could feature original songs written specially for the Blackburn spinster and may well have a Sixties tinge to it.
She told The Sun: “I would like to have some songs written for me and I believe there is something in place for that already. My next album has to have an element of surprise in it again. I’m hoping to make it better and a bit extra special.
Asked what sort of musical styles would influence the album, SuBo claimed the CD would likely feature “Sixties music because that was my era,” and also hinted there would be some jazz standards in the mix too.
She also revealed that she hasn’t looked back since taking the world by storm a year ago and that despite reports the pressures of fame were getting to her, is enjoying living the dream of being a recording star.
“Everything sits very comfortably on my shoulders now and I’m more relaxed,” she said. “ I love recording. The recording studio is your own space, it’s your bubble.”
More SuBo titbits
SuBo also admitted she has a soft spot for X Factor winner Joe McElderry and had been to see him on tour.
“What a personality he has. If I was a bit younger I’d probably fancy him,” she said of the Geordie star who will be hoping to follow in Susan’s footsteps when he releases his debut album
Writing in The Sun about SuBo’s rise to fame, ahead of a new series of Britain’s Got Talent, one of the judges who discovered Susan, Piers Morgan said the star has coped admirably with her new found success since stunning the panel with her incredible performances on BGT.
He said: ”Despite everything you’ve read about her supposedly cracking up due to the pressures of superstardom, the truth is that Susan’s loving every minute of it. She has become the biggest British musical export since the Beatles.”
Morgan also admitted that last time he met the I Dreamed A Dream star she confessed she “coudn’t be happier” and that when he bumps into her she still does her famous “Piersy baby” wiggle for him.
Since her success on the show former church voluneteer Susan has appeared on several TV shows in the US including Oprah Winfrey, but admits one of her greatest ambitions is to one day sing for the Pope.
