Eminem, Muse and Kasabian have been announced as headliners of T in the Park 2010.
The appearance of Eminem marks the biggest surprise for the Scottish summer music festival and is a particular coup, the rapper returning last year with new album Relapse after a long career break. Jay-Z will also be on hand to dazzle the crowd with a bombastic hip-hop spectacle, his stunning appearance at Glastonbury in 2008 still fresh in the memory.
Muse last appeared at T in the Park in 2004 where they delivered a magnificent headline performance on the NME stage, all while The Darkness (you might be right for thinking ‘who?’) put in a reportedly disappointing show on the Main Stage. With that in mind they’ll be one of the most anticipated acts of the festival, which takes place at its traditional home of Balado near Perth from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 July. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 26th February, and will likely spark a huge rush.
Then there’s some big names coming over from across the Atlantic including the Black Eyed Peas, who’ve been dominating the charts worldwide with their unashamedly populist touch. There’ll be some celebrity star power courtesy of soaring rock act 30 Seconds to Mars, who feature Hollywood heartthrob Jared Leto, plus Jennifer Aniston’s sometime flame John Mayer. Boyfriends who perhaps think twice about bringing their other half along...
There’s a healthy smattering of Brits winners including the mightily lunged Florence and the Machine, Dizzee Rascal and Critic’s Choice winner Ellie Goulding, who will be a hot tip for this year. Meanwhile Goldfrapp and La Roux will be adding some female-fronted electronic flair to the festival
And for those even slightly unsure of who will provide the anthem of the year, The Proclaimers will be on hand to steal the show.
There’s some choice selections for more discerning indie fans including Broken Social Scene, Dirty Projectors, Gossip and Vampire Weekend. There are also some amazing headliners for lovers of dance at the Slam Tent, including appearances by Plastikman, Carl Cox and David Guetta. The Prodigy should also be ripping up proceedings with their live show.
The full line-up confirmed so far is as follows: 30 Seconds To Mars, Black Eyed Peas, Biffy Clyro, Black Mountain, Broken Social Scene, Calvin Harris, Carl Cox, David Guetta, Dirty Projectors, Dizzee Rascal, Ellie Goulding, Empire of the Sun, Erol Alkan, Faithless, Fake Blood, Florence & The Machine, Four Tet, Goldfrapp, Gossip, Hot Chip, Jay-Z, John Mayer, La Roux, Mayer Hawthorne and The County, Mumford and Sons, Newton Faulkner, Paolo Nutini, Plastikman, Rise Against, Skunk Anansie, Slam, Stereophonics, The Cribs, The Coral, The Courteeners, The Proclaimers, The Prodigy, The Stranglers, The Temper Trap, The View, Two Door Cinema Club, Vampire Weekend and Wolfmother.
