BRIT Awards 2010: Best International Album winner is Lady GaGa

MAKING AT IMPRESSION: Lady GaGa at the BRIT Awards 2010

With a great fact about how many albums Mika has sold in Kenya, Peter Kay left the stage to let the singer-songwriter present the award.

Mika admitted he had a vested interest in the award, but would his choice win?

"And the winner is... Lady GaGa," he announced, making it a clean sweep. She had previously won Best International Breakthrough Act and Best International Female Solo Artist, beating a variety of big-hitters in the process.

Not since 2005 has an international artist walked away with three awards, back in the days when the Scissor Sisters ruled the roost. How long ago it seems!

Goodness, who else was left to thank after all her acceptance speeches? After her larger-than-life performance and three award wins it was clear who'd be dominating the headlines the next morning...

Before walking off the stage the inimitable Lady GaGa said that this award meant even more to her than the first two, because of how much went into making the album. As before she seemed pretty emotional, perhaps explained by her dedicating her performance to the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen, who died last week.

The nominees for Best International Album were Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion, Black Eyed Peas - The End, Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream, Jay-Z - The Blueprint 3 and Lady Gaga - The Fame.
