As if her chart-topping antics after The X Factor weren’t enough, now Leona Lewis is looking likely to grab an Oscar as well. Is there no stopping her?
Not content with one entry, Leona has two soundtrack numbers in the running for the Best Original Song category.
Her current single Happy is used in gritty movie Precious, which has been produced by Oprah Winfrey.
Leona said: “I’m just so proud of it because I wrote it, and to be associated with a film like Precious, which is about trying to overcome troubles and trials in your life. I’m glad that someone got that message.”
She is also being tipped for Oscar glory with I See You, which features in big budget sci-fi epic Avatar, which comes out this month.
Leona explained of the James Cameron-directed movie: “I only saw a half-hour clip of the film. It’s not finished yet, and it’s insane, awesome. I heard the song – great lyrics, very, very epic.”
She added: “So I went in and I did it. And then they played it to James and he phoned me up and said: ‘Oh, my God. I love you!’ He’s so cool.
“I had this perception that he was going to be totally untouchable and unreachable. But he’s just like your nice uncle. He’s lovely.”
Now that her soundtrack achievements are set to be rewarded, Leona hasn’t ruled out also appearing on the silver screen.
She said: “I love movies but I’m more into scriptwriting and the actual story and behind the scenes. But I wouldn’t say no if it was the right thing.”
