Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party line-up revealed

The Enemy have been announced as headliners for this year’s Edinburgh Hogmanay Street Party, the line-up in the capital on December 31 also including Frightened Rabbit, Codeine Velvet Club, the Noisettes and Madness.

Performing on the Waverley Stage, rabble-rousers The Enemy will be joined by some of Scotland’s most interesting young bands.

These include emotive indie outfit Frightened Rabbit, local jazz-rap fusion act Stanley Odd, and fellow city-dwellers We Were Promised Jetpacks with their soaring rock anthems.

The Waverley Stage will also be hosted by a special guest DJ, BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway.

Also confirmed for the New Year celebrations are The Cuban Brothers and Glitter Banditz, who will present an evening of music and mayhem at The Mound Party Stage, hosted by special guest DJ The Great Calverto.

These stages accompany the previously announced West End DJ Stage, which will have the dancefloor pumping to the sounds of Scottish electronic whizkid Mylo, special guest DJs Gary & Tom (Snow Patrol) and Richard Colburn (Belle & Sebastian).

Pete Irvine, creative director for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, said: “We’re delighted to announce such strong line-ups for the Street Party - great indie music at The Waverley Stage, great party music on The Party Stage at the top of The Mound and fantastic DJs at the West End DJ Stage.”

Organisers have also confirmed Codeine Velvet Club to kick start proceedings at the Concert in the Gardens.

With their debut album released in the UK on Monday December 28, Codeine Velvet Club’s John Barryesque outing looks set to get the Concert in the Gardens off to a stylish start.  Jon Fratelli’s latest venture will join Noisettes and headlining act Madness.

Irvine added: Together with one of the UK’s biggest firework display, lasers and the atmosphere and friendliness that you simply don’t get anywhere else, this year’s Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is shaping up to be the city’s strongest line-up for years.

“And remember, there’s much more to announce next week when the details of the full, five day Edinburgh’s Hogmanay programme will be revealed.”

Festival organisers will announce full programme details on Tuesday 17 November. For further information, to purchase tickets and to register for online updates visit: www.edinburghshogmanay.com
