Susan Boyle has been praised by her idol, singing legend Elaine Page, who’s said the Britain’s Got Talent breakout star has “a streak of Scottish grit beneath the surface”.
SuBo listed the stars of musicals as her main influence during the reality show - indeed, Page sang Les Miserables hit I Dreamed A Dream years before Susan brought it to a global internet audience.
Now the 61-year-old singing veteran has paid tribute to the Scottish star as Susan prepares to release her debut album on November 23.
Page said: "Susan's learning fast - she's got over the initial shock. Yes, she still seems quite vulnerable but there's a streak of Scottish grit beneath the surface.
"And she's got a good team around her. So let's hope they continue to protect and look after her. I wish her great success."
Page compared her success story to that of her best known character Evita. Talking about Susan’s famous first performance on Britain’s Got Talent, she admitted: "I found it rather emotional, a rags to riches kind of story - a bit like Evita herself. But it was more than that.
"I felt I knew what Susan was going through, the full horror of it all. You could see it in her eyes. I hadn't been very confident when Evita changed my world but I was a professional."
Susan seems to have overcome her nerves after a stunning performance on American Idol, and her upcoming debut album has broken the record as the biggest CD to ever be pre-ordered on Amazon.com in the US, making it a surefire success.
