Simon Cowell blasts Beatles

Simon Cowell has blasted The Beatles, claiming they would have failed auditions on 'The X Factor'.

The music mogul - who once rejected the Spice Girls, the best-selling girl group of all time - says he would have kicked the iconic band off his British TV talent show unless they fired drummer Ringo Starr.

The 49-year-old star said: "If The Beatles came on the show we would have said, 'We'll take those three - Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison - but probably lose the drummer.'

"With Ringo, I'm afraid, we would have said 'bad news'."

Speaking in a US television interview with his 'Britain's Got Talent' co-star Amanda Holden, Simon also revealed what drives him, saying: "I like winning, Amanda. That's what excites me."

Simon is now focusing on the career of Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle, who will perform on the final of 'America's Got Talent' next week.

Her debut album is due for release in November, and is expected to shoot to the top of the charts in America and Britain.

Well he just made himself sound like a real idiot, good one.

Not hire the Beatles?? The best selling artists in the world?? And he KNOWS it too.... so why did he say it?

He probably wants to give off the impression "I'm too good even for the Beatles"... but he just made himself sound stupid in my opinion. He's gone down in my estimations.

Without RINGO it wouldn't have been the Beatles. ANy music fan should realise that it's the four personalities that fit together so PERFECTLY that made the FAB FOUR. Shame, Simon.

What a moron. Ringo's drumming was perfect for the Beatles sound, it helped define their sound just as much as George Harrison's lead guitar. I would love to know if Simon Cowell could give any examples of what songs Ringo messed up with his drumming.

Hey Simon!! Are you related to that dope at Decca records who turned down the Beatles. And don't make fun of Ringo's nose either until you grow some lips.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...Simon Cowell's continued success within the world of entertainment is a sure sign of the coming apocalypse.

Didn't this guy's contribution to "music" involve making records by singing wrestlers?

Cowell found a way to exploit cruel and voyeuristic tendencies in our society for great personal gain. To take his opinion seriously on matters of art is as laughable as those wrestling records.

Great idea, Simon. Kick out Ringo... bring in Pete Best! He's more photogenic!
