Danielle Lineker is urging Scots to support England in the World Cup

Danielle Lineker has urged Scots to get behind the England squad in South Africa. The wife of the England-player-turned-presenter Gary said they’d be “silly” not to.

She reckons it’s important for as many people as possible to support Fabio Capello’s side at the World Cup.

Speaking to The Metro she said: “I will definitely be supporting England. Just because I’m Welsh I think it’s silly not to support England, whether you’re Irish, Scottish, whatever, you should get behind the boys.”

And she reckons that the players will miss the presence of the WAGs in the England camp since Fabio banned them as they cause a “distraction”.

She said: “The Wag thing, well obviously at the last World Cup people said it was a distraction.”

But she added: “I think it’s nice that they are there to support them and for the players it’s nice to know that they have someone watching them.”

I think more people would "get behind the boys" if the English MEDIA didn't make such a bliddy song and dance about the team. There is NO denying that the England team are talented but the shennanigans of all sections of the media put people off. According to most of them, England have a God-given RIGHT to WIN the tournament! In fact, I was listening to an ex-England player the other day and he said something along the lines of "we should have no problem getting to at least the semi-finals as long as we don't meet Brazil along the way". This is BEFORE a ball has been KICKED! How arrogant is THAT? So basically - according to him - all the teams in England's section are either cr@p or are just going to lie down and let them win.

Not only that, do we REALLY want another 44 years of "when we won the cup" stapped down our throats? Then you've got practically every tv programme punting something to do with England. Even Mars bars and Kit Kats are wearing England Regalia. Didn't mind the Pampers though (think about it)!!! The belter for me though was when they put the England World Cup song on during BGT Final. I switched OFF! Bliddy cheek. What would've happened if all FOUR Home countries had made it to the finals (yeah, I know - dream on!)? Would they have played all four songs? I very much doubt it.

Oh - and Mrs Lineker should watch who she's terming as "silly" or she may be in line for a Glesga kiss! She wouldn't be doing ANY presenting job if she wasn't married to Gary Lineker. One day strolling about in bras and knickers, the next presenting high-profile programmes. Must be great to be connected.

And I still think it's a slap in the face for the experienced people who've been sacked/side-lined by ITV.

No Danielle, it's you who are silly. Marrying an English football player does not qualify you to tell other people who or who not to support.

I have much greater admiration for France, Italy, Brazil and many other fine teams. England on the other hand has no redeeming qualities as far as I'm concerned.

So stick to what you are supposed to do (which is not much) and if I want a comment from you I will ask.
