The Oprah Winfrey Show today was a special edition called The World’s Got Talent.
Simon Cowell was a guest and spoke about, amongst other things, Susan Boyle.
He told the chat show host that Susan Boyle mania “was the most surreal thing that ever happened.”
Speaking about the auditions that day he said: “I was having a horrible day, really grumpy.”
When Susan walked on the stage he took one look at her and thought “this’ll take five seconds then I can go and have a cup of tea.”
Oprah asked: “What were you thinking when she opened her mouth?”
Simon laughed: “I’m going to look really stupid in a few weeks time!”
He added: “There was something she (Susan) said before she came out on stage – “I’m going to rock this audience”. She knew she had something.”
Via the satelite link Simon congratulated Boyle and wished her luck, before adding: “I want to say to you, it’s all about you and your singing voice now… you’ve got practically the whole world behind you.”
When Oprah said: “So you believe she has a chance to win the whole thing now?” Simon replied; “I do…”
Susan responded: “I’m willing to take my place with the rest, there’s good talent on the show.”
The countdown to the live shows is on!
