Alun Woodward, the former singer-guitarist with Mercury-nominated Scottish indie icons The Delgados, is marking his first appearance in the UK with his new band at a special show in Dunfermline this month.

Performing under solo guise Lord Cut-Glass, he’s set to appear on Saturday May 16 at Dunfermline's Carnegie Hall as part of the month-long, wide-spanning music extravaganza Tigerfest.

Woodward has already collaborated with famed author Alasdair Gray on a Ballads of the Book compilation, but this live show will serve as a preview for the self-titled debut album Lord Cut-Glass, due out in June 22 on Chemikal Underground.

“Musically I started writing songs with the idea of being in a band with a couple of other people,” Woodward explained. “I asked them and they said they didn't want to so I thought f*** it, I'll do it all myself.”

Lord Cut-Glass’s nine-piece band for the night will also feature former Delgados band-mate Paul Savage on drums, and his brother Jamie Savage on keyboards.

The evening is a Chemikal Underground night, featuring bands all signed to the Glasgow-based label that The Delgados set up to release their own records in 1994.

Also on the bill are recent French signings Angil & the Hiddentracks, and rising Scottish outfit De Rosa, who recently released their second album Prevention.

Tigerfest is a music festival taking place in three Scottish cities during May 2009, showcasing acts such as King Creosote, Aberfeldy, Cruiser, James Yorkston, Found, ballboy and Alasdair Roberts. More information is available at www.tigerfest.co.uk.
