Susan Boyle has gone for a DIY makeover, getting her hair done at a local salon, plucking her eyebrows, applying some make-up and investing in some new clothes – all against the advice of the Britain’s Got Talent production team.
We think she looks great, but we thought we’d ask get professional advice on the how well Susan has done with her make-up, clothes and hair-do.
Helen Irvine is a freelance make-up stylist in Glasgow. We asked for her professional opinion on the makeover and she was delighted at the effort that Susan had put in when we showed her the latest pictures.
“I think she looks great,” she said. “It definitely makes her look younger.
“Her eyebrows are certainly better but still not the right shape. It looks like she started to put on some make-up then stopped. Her face was quite red before so perhaps she’s tried to hide that.”
Turning her attention to the new, darker haircut, our stylist added: “Her hair is too short and too dark and it’s not been styled to her face shape and her glasses.
“But if a professional had given her a makeover she wouldn’t be able to replicate it so well done to her for taking control of her look herself.
“From the neck down it’s probably more her age. I think it looks nice - but it doesn’t fit her. The trousers are too tight, the sleeves are too long. It’s a nice outfit but it’s ill-fitting, which Primark usually is.”
