Jody Latham is the first person to leave Hell’s Kitchen after being sacked by Marco. Before he faced the chop he made a bid for freedom and jumped over the fence of the celebrities’ living quarters.

Marco gathered the celebrities around a table in the restaurant to deliver his verdict on who would be going and who would stay to cook another meal in the kitchen.

He asked them each to explain why they should stay in Hell’s Kitchen and they each responded.

When it came to Jody’s turn he said: “I can’t give you a reasonable explanation to make me stay actually I’ve got what I want from the show I think I can walk away this evening and still be a winner.”

Marco: “I agree but do you want more from Hell’s Kitchen?”

Jody laughed and said:” Why are you doing this to me (laughs) …of course I want more.”

Marco then asked the rest of the celebs if they thought Jody had proved himself today.

Most thought he had although Ade said: “I’m not sure if he has redeemed himself. I accept your apology for yesterday although I still think it was a properly sackable offence.”

Marco then revealed: “I relate to Jody I can’t help but see part of myself in him there’s one very big difference though. I was highly disciplined by the people I worked for. You may not agree with my decision of last night but remember I came into Hell’s Kitchen to do a job, not to be liked, not to make friends…”

“I don’t like people who label people. I was labelled as a young man as an angry young man. There’s a big difference between anger and hurt and the man to my right is a man who’s been hurt in his early life. Even though I’ve not spoken to him I recognise it within him.”

Jody then walked out of the restaurant, through the kitchen and into the back store area where he threw down his apron.

Marco called after him: “In your own time Jody.”

Once into the garden Jody jumped over the fence.

But later Jody returned and apologised to all the celebrities and Marco for walking out.

Marco thanked Jody for returning and told the celebrities that the Jody issue had been dealt with.

Marco then went round the table one by one telling the celebrities that they would be staying in Hell’s Kitchen. As each celebrity was told, they returned to the living quarters but Grant and Linda waited in the kitchen, with Grant being concerned that wife Anthea would get the sack.

Finally just Anthea and Jody were left sitting nervously at the table with Marco.

After chip gate would Anthea survive?

Marco: “Jody I relate to. I believe in fairness, I really do, I believe in respect I take on board what you say Anthea, but trust me it didn’t contribute to my decision. I have a job to do and that job is to feed 70 people every night to the best of my ability with the team I have been given…I’ve sat at this table tonight and when I arrived I hadn’t made my decision. Anthea you are cooking in Hell’s Kitchen tomorrow night. Go upstairs.”

Marco said: “Thankyou Jody… true success is true discovery…good night Jody.”

Jody: “Good night Marco, thankyou.”

The pair then shook hands and hugged before Jody left Hell’s Kitchen.

It had been rumoured that Jody had said he would quit before he got to the end of the show anyway, for fear of ruining his career. At least that’s a decision that has been taken out of his hands but will going first do his career any favours?
