Singing sensation Susan Boyle has told how her remarkable performance on Britain’s Got Talent was dedicated to her mum who died two years ago.

Wacky charity worker Susan, from Blackburn, West Lothian, says she promised her mum that she would do something with her life and Susan believes she has now fulfilled that promise.

The 47-year-old had the last laugh on the ITV show on Saturday after sniggers reverberated around the Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow when she said she hoped to become as big as Elaine Paige.

But as soon as Susan began singing I Dreamed A Dream from musical Les Miserables, jaws everywhere dropped followed by a standing ovation before she’d even finished singing.

Susan told STV’s five thirty show: “Basically I wanted to fulfil a wish to my mother that I wanted to do something with my life. Not only that but I felt like I had a bit more to offer.”

After wowing the judges and 12 million viewers, Susan has now become the latest big internet sensation on video sharing website YouTube with 2.5 million people having viewed her performance already.

“Gobsmacked. Absolutely gobsmacked,” added stunned Susan on her overnight success.
