Camp Scottish comedian Craig Hill is relishing the chance to perform alongside big names such as Jimmy Carr, Paul Merton and Rob Brydon in the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, which gets underway on Thursday.
Hill, who hails from East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, is consolidating his position as one of the rising stars of Scottish comedy with numerous stints at the Edinburgh Fringe already under his belt.
Now the flamboyant joker sees his latest performance as a great opportunity to prove himself to a new collection of comedy-lovers.
“It’s really good for you to be in that programme in amongst all those great performers,” he said.
“The main thing is that you do a really good show, every single year. Every time you do a show it’s really, really important you give 100% and the audience have a good time so that they’ll come back.”
Hill also singled out another rising star as his top-tip for the festival.
“There’s a guy that I saw, he’s 18-years-old, Daniel Sloss,” said Hill. “I went to see him at Leicester Comedy Festival…I was looking at him and thought, ‘how can he be this good at 18?’”
He added: “You expect them to not be that good and this is why he was a real surprise. He’s quite sophisticated and grown-up, able to cope with an audience and he didn’t make you feel uncomfortable, which is great.”
