The musical that inspired a generation to don legwarmers, leotards and headbands is back! Fame The Musical comes to the Edinburgh Playhouse.
The five thirty show’s Vicky Lee joined the cast to take part in rehearsals and to see if she could “light up the sky like a flame.”
While there Vicky also met a familiar face. Playing teacher Miss Sherman is X Factor finalist Beverley Trotman.
The former primary school teacher from Luton was enthusiastic about her role in the show: “It’s fantastic! I’m learning to dance. Watch out Strictly Come Dancing!”
Before joining the cast on stage, Vicky was given some tutoring from the head dance instructor regarding the complicated and quick-paced dance moves. She admits the training was pretty gruelling.
“I went to the gym this morning to loosen up and I’m still sweating and I’ve did hardly anything.”
Having learned the moves, Vicky put on her legwarmers before taking to the stage with the rest of the cast and that all-important yellow New York taxi. Roll music!
Fame The Musical will run at the Edinburgh Playhouse from January 12-17, and the Glasgow Kings from January 19-24.
