Ayrshire rocker Simon Neil, lead singer with Biffy Clyro, revealed why he always goes topless when he’s performing.
“It’s the heat and sweat”, Simon told an an exclusive video interview with stv.
He added: “And I don’t want to waste material.”
Biffy Clyro were in Glasgow to promote Rockness 2009, probably the only festival with the Loch Ness monster for an audience.
Simon, who normally is seen without a top on, was all geared up for the day and added: “Looking forward to playing Rockness. Hopefully by that point we’ll have our new record together.”
Since 2002, Biffy Clyro has released four studio albums and was behind this year’s big summer anthem Mountains.
They are to headline this years’ festival, which takes place in Dores on the eastern banks of Loch Ness in June. Other acts will include The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx and Dizzee Rascal.
“We enjoy the challenge of a festival”, bass player James Johnston said. He continued: “At festivals there is such a mix of bands and you might be playing to people who haven’t heard you before. It’s really good fun.”
The band also revealed it is nerves that is to blame for not having played in hometown Ayr for a long time: “We keep getting asked to do things in Ayr but it’s always a bit of pressure playing in front your friends and family – really nerve wracking”, Simon admitted.
