In an exclusive interview with stv, The League of Gentlemen’s Mark Gatiss revealed Prime Minister Gordon Brown should be the new Doctor Who.

Mark is famously a long-time fan of the smash hit British television science-fiction series.

“Gordon Brown would be the best new Doctor Who”, said Mark while discussing his love for the sci-fi show.

Mark rose to fame as a member of the comedy team The League of Gentlemen and is one of only three people to have both written for and acted in Doctor Who.

Doctor Who was what got me interested in writing and acting”, Mark added.

In 2007, he starred as the 76-year-old scientist, Professor Lazarus, who had developed a device that made him look younger.

“It was surreal”, he said about his experience being on the show. “It was the best Christmas present you can have.”

He couldn’t say whether he preferred acting or writing: “I love mixing and matching the two and I’m so lucky to be doing the things I always wanted to do.”

Mark continued: “Whatever I’m not doing is generally what I want to be doing and I’d like to see you try and pigeon-hole me.”
