Another week brings another Superhero movie. Compared to the likes of Batman or The X-Men, The Green Lantern is nowhere near as well known. It's the tale of an intergalactic police force, the eponymous, Green Lanterns and the first human being to join their ranks. Each member of the Green Lantern Corp wears a ring that grants them superpowers in their quest to fight evil and protect the universe.
Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds plays earthman Hal Jordan, a talented yet irresponsible test pilot who finds a dying Green Lantern who gives him his ring, thus making him the official protector of earth.
With top of the range special effects, DC comics have clearly gone all out to try and outshine their big competitor, Marvel comics (Spiderman, X-Men, Iron Man.) While the movie is a remarkable thrill ride of visual effects, lead actor Reynolds also finds a moral in the tale.
"I love the thought that good goes beyond just earth and is pervasive around the universe. Even though there is some darkness in it there is also a lot of light which makes it very accessible to an audience."
