Octavia Spencer has joined the cast of 'Snow Piercer'.
The 41-year-old actress - who is considered the front-runner for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her turn as maid Minny Jackson in 'The Help' - will star alongside Tilda Swinton and Chris Evans in the movie set on a future frozen world.
Bong Joon-Ho is directing the picture, which tells the tale of a world where experiments to put an end to global warming go wrong, causing the planet to freeze.
Most of the human race die off in the resulting cold, apart from a small band who are kept on a train which travels around the globe and is powered by a perpetual-motion engine.
However, when a class system develops, a revolution threatens, with Octavia on board to play the role of a woman who joins the revolt in a bid to save her son.
Chan Wook-Park and Dooho Choi are producing the project.
Octavia - who has so far won a SAG Award and a Golden Globe for her performance in 'The Help' - will next shoot a part in Diablo Cody's untitled project, before shooting 'Snow Piercer' in May.
