James McAvoy has started filming his new movie Filth, in Glasgow.
The Scots screen hunk stars in the film alongside Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell.
The pair were spotted together as they shot scenes for the film in Cardonald, Glasgow.
Filth is based on controversial novel by Irvine Welsh, who also wrote Trainspotting. The movie adaptation of another work of his, Ecstasy, is showing at the Glasgow Film Festival next month.
McAvoy and Bell star as two cops who are brought in to solve a brutal murder.
James admitted that accepting the role was a gamble as his character is not likeable.
McAvoy will star as Bruce Robertson, who is a racist who takes part in bestiality.
He told The Sun: "I'm taking probably the biggest risk of my career in playing the part in Filth.
"It's an incredible role for me, unlike anything I've ever done and a massive challenge."
The film also stars Martin Compston, who is best know for playing Ewan Brodie in Monarch of the Glen.
