Appearing on Scottish TV back in 1999, Gerard Butler was an up-and-coming actor – but even before becoming a Hollywood star it turns out he had a way with the ladies!
At the time the handsome leading had yet to become a Hollywood star, but was a rising talent promoting 1999 romantic drama One More Kiss, about a woman who flees from New York back to the Scottish borders with a secret to share.
He appeared on cheeky Grampian show Loud TV to promote the movie, though the presenters were more interested into the reputation he was already gathering for himself in the tabloids!
They quizzed the fresh-faced star about his reputation in papers as a bit of a stud. Gerard replied: “It is a bit funny that they’ve made such a big deal about it.
“It’s nice, but it’s not what it’s about. You do these interviews, and you talk about your work, and talk about great actors that you’ve worked with, and you’re asked about actresses you’ve snogged. I don’t think it’s about that, I think it’s a bit sad sometimes.”
Butler said of the movie he was promoting: “I’m so proud of it. It’s a lovely movie, beautifully show, and she [co-star Valerie Edmond] is amazing in it.”
The actor also talked about his role that same year in low-budget Scottish comedy Fast Food, in which he starred alongside Dougie Henshall, Emily Woof and Miles Anderson.
