View to a Kilt: Daniel Craig will be coming to Scotland to shoot scenes

The new James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig is set to film some of its pivotal scenes at a Scottish castle.

The shoot – which is reportedly planned for February – will take place at Duntrune Castle near Lochgilphead in Argyll, the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland.

It is thought that the castle will act at 007’s ancestral home, with 200 cast and crew – including Craig – set to be involved at the location for the 23rd Bond movie, which has reportedly named Skyfall .

Bond was of course most famously portrayed by Scot Sean Connery, and the fictional spy was given a strong Scottish heritage by author Ian Fleming.

Patricia Malcolm, who lives in the castle with husband Robin, said: "They are coming here at the end of February and are going to film for several days.

“They are using the castle - just the outside - it's going to be used for the end of the film. I think it is meant to be James Bond's ancestral home - he will bring all the villains here.”

She added: "I believe it's mostly being filmed in China and Turkey. They want a winter scene, so they are going to bring their own snow."

It also looks like the castle is set to get a bit of a battering in the high-octane movie – though producers will be sure to leave the actual building intact afterwards.

Malcolm explained: "It looks as if they are going to construct the set and then blow it up. I think they are going to attack the castle from land and sea - there are going to a lot of bangs and explosions."

Director Sam Mendes has already visited the location and other parts of the Highlands – which means that you might just find yourself shaken (but no stirred) by Hollywood star Craig in the not too distant future...
