Cameron Diaz and Colin Firth talk Gambit nudity at film premiere

In the trailer for their new movie Gambit, Oscar-winner Colin Firth and co-star Cameron Diaz are shown in various states of undress, however fans shouldn't get too excited. They say the film certainly isn't sexy.

Speaking at the world premiere of the comedy crime caper in London, Diaz said flesh was only flashed for laughs.

"We think of it as comedy,” she explained. “When we were doing it we didn't really think 'oh, all of us are getting into various states of undress for the sake of something.”

Firth, referring to a scene where he appears trouserless agreed, saying that audiences will get "treated" to 20 minutes of his knees, but that's all.

The most risque scene of the movie features Harry Potter’s Alan Rickman, who appears totally naked except for a few well positioned props. His nude scene was filmed in a real office, which meant there wasn't much privacy.

"There was a lot of glass around. It was very transparent," he said. "In this mad world of iPhones it'll be a miracle if it's not out there somewhere."

Gambit is about a private art curator called Harry Deane (Firth) who devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England's richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar (Rickman), into purchasing a fake Monet painting.

In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.

  • Gambit opens in the UK on November 21.
