Milla Jovovich talks Resident Evil – the franchise that refuses to die

Milla Jovovich is returning for Resident Evil: Retribution – and she’s discussed what’s in store for character Alice in the umpteenth movie in the franchise.

The actress smiled big when asked what new adventures her famed character Alice experiences.

She said: "The thing that we've always wanted on these films is that each one has its own look, its own life, is always fresh.

"What's the point of going to see a 'Resident Evil' movie if it's going to look like the last one? So this one is bigger, the action sequences are crazier but also the characters are really so much more complex.”

She added: “I have my character coming back, she is a mother, she is a warrior. Michelle Rodriguez comes back, she's a college student, she works for Umbrella.

“We have lot of characters from lots of movies that died before coming back to this one and you think, what is going on? And by the way we shoot worldwide after the Apocalypse, so how does that happen?

“There are a lot of really cool aspects to this movie that I think people are just going to flip out over."

Would it be possible to expect a another Resident Evil addition in a few years?

The actress explained: "You know what? We like to take one movie at a time and if fans really love this and want another one then my husband will at some point get inspired and write a script.”

Director Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich first met while shooting the first Resident Evil in the early 2000s. The couple were married on August 22, 2009. Anderson admits he enjoys mixing business with pleasure when it comes to his wife Milla Jovovich.

"There is no separation between work and home life for us," he explained. "It's one of the nice things, Milla and I, one of the things we bonded over was a love of film. So of course we talk about movies when we come home.

“I think one of the things we both agree on is we got the best jobs in the world. Of course we talk about them when we come home. And now our daughter is growing up on a film set so it's really become, film has become like a family business for us."
