Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffrey Dean Morgan premiered their new thriller The Possession, which appears in cinemas tomorrow, in Los Angeles this week – and revealed what really sends chills down their spine.
Based on a true story, Natasha Calis stars as Em, a girl who becomes possessed by a demon.
The young actress was just 11 when The Possession was filmed two years ago – but survived to tell the tale.
She explained: "It's about this little girl who finds this antique box at a garage sale, which contains malicious demons that possess her.
“It's her family's journey to reunite and save her before it's too late."
Kyra Sedgwick said of the film: "The elements are always important. I have always wanted to do a horror movie. They were really influential for me growing up: The Exorcist, The Omen, Poltergeist... I always wanted to do a good one that is character-driven.
“I want to do parts that play a lot of the notes on my instrument. I think that this really afforded me that. It was fun and the acting is extraordinary.”
The film revolves around an authentic 'Dibbuk Box' which was auctioned off on eBay.
The owner of the box claimed that each of its owners including himself, encountered harrowing stories that accompanied ownership of the box. Hair fell out, nightmares stalked entire households, sudden illness struck some owners down, while others saw freakish visions and unexplained voices.
Ironically it wasn't the film that scared Morgan – the upcoming US elections playing more on his mind. He explained: “Well I will say this: the Tea Party scares the crap out of me. That's all I am going to say. I just hope people think. I hope everyone gets to vote."
- The Possession is in UK cinemas from tomorrow.
