Tim Burton has always felt at home in Britain

The American director - who lives in London with his long-term partner Helena Bonham Carter, and their two children, Billy, six, and Nell, two - left his native California 10 years ago and insists he doesn't miss life Stateside at all.

Burton said: "When I came to England during the 80s to shoot 'Batman' I already felt at home. That was a weird feeling, because it was the first time I felt at home somewhere. I probably lived here in a previous life already. Anyway, I'm happy, I've been living here for quite a few years now."

The 'Alice in Wonderland' filmmaker even prefers the wet weather of the UK to the sunny climate of California.

He added to German TV station Tele 5: "I love the weather more than in California. I am serious! You know, you can go for a walk in any kind of weather. In Los Angeles you immediately arouse suspicion when you're out without a car."
