Forest Whitaker is to star in 'Little Treasure'.
The 'Last King Of Scotland' actor is in final negotiations to take the lead role in the independent drama, in which he will play one half of a couple who returns to his wife's home city of Shanghai, China.
The pair then meet a local street kid who changes their lives, forcing the couple to deal with prejudice and cultural differences as they embark on a journey of self-discovery.
'Splinter' director Michael D. Olmos is to direct the film from a script penned by 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' writer Josh Goldstein.
Filming on the production is scheduled to begin next month but no other casting details have been given.
Forest can next be seen starring opposite Jude Law in 'Repo Men' and recently revealed he loved playing a ruthless merchant of human organs because it featured "old-fashioned" action.
He explained: "I play a guy who sells body parts in the future. But I take them back if the person doesn't pay.
"The guy I play actually loves his job and loves inflicting pain. For me, it was fun because this is a big action movie, but it's not guns blazing. I get to hit people the old-fashioned way instead of shooting them."
