Jeff Bridges was nervous making his Oscars speech.

The 60-year-old star picked up the Best Actor accolade at this year's Oscar ceremony, and admits he was pleased to get it for his role in 'Crazy Heart' - where he plays alcoholic country music singer Bad Blake - because he loved the movie.

He said: "I've been nominated for Oscars five times and you would think that, being an actor for as long as I've been, I could get up in front of people and give a speech. But no, I'm just as nervous as anyone.

"It's wonderful to have this little gold guy. It's a cool thing. And I love that I got it for this movie.

"I can't imagine how it would have been if I'd won for a terrible movie that I hated working on."

Part of the reason for his enjoyment of the role was because he was allowed to gain weight, something which he relished.

He told The Sun newspaper: "I'm always excited when I think, 'Oh I'm going to play a fat guy'.

"I love eating ice-cream and not working out. I let my hair grow, my body go, and I eat my Haagen-Dazs right before I go to bed."
