Glasgow city centre was mobbed by screaming fans on Sunday night as Scottish actor Gerard Butler was in town for the European premiere of his new movie.
The heartthrob arrived on the red carpet with his mother in tow, and was swamped by dozens of scraming fans desperate to catch a glimpse of their idol. His movie, Law Abiding Citizen is released on Friday.
The Glasgow born actor, who was raised in Paisley, had double cause for celebration, as it was his 40th birthday.
He told STV News having the screening in his home town made it all the more special.
He said: "It has been pretty extra special here tonight. I was pretty shocked by the big wave that hit me when I got out the car, there was a lot of noise.
Asked what it meant to him to get this kind of reaction, he replied: "The last premier I did here was for Dear Frankie which was in Edinburgh, to be able to come back to Glasgow, where I'm from, to realise the excitement, about the film, and to see that many people and that excitement in the crowd, you couldn't ask for more than that."
