George Clooney is a "great idiot".
Directors Joel and Ethan Coen say they love working with the 'Burn After Reading' star because of his comic capabilities, despite deciding against casting him in their latest movie 'A Serious Man'.
Asked why Michael Stuhlbarg was cast in the film, rather than an established star, Ethan said: "You don't want to break that spell. George Clooney would not sit well in this particular shul. Right after he wrapped on 'Burn After Reading', and he was on his way home, he said to us, 'That's it, boys, I've played my last idiot!'
Joel added: "Some people have the chops to play great idiots. George is one of those people."
The brothers admit that 'A Serious Man' - which follows a professor and his annoyances - is semi-autobiographical.
Ethan told MTV: "There's some truth to that. We grew up in suburban Minneapolis in a Jewish community, and this period is when we were kids. But the story itself is all made up."
