Derren Brown will predict the lottery numbers live on TV this Wednesday (09.09.09).
In a ten minute Channel 4 special - broadcast at the same time as the BBC's live Lotto draw - the illusionist will guess the six winning numbers, worth millions.
Although Derren is confident he can choose the right numbers in the £2.4 million draw, he has been banned by Channel 4 bosses from buying a ticket, and as his stunt will be broadcast live, it will be too late for anybody else to enter the draw based on his predictions.
Although Derren admits if the stunt goes wrong, it could be a "career breaker", he is so confident of success he has convinced Channel 4 to screen his show across all of its channels.
Upsetting BBC bosses further, Derren also promises to reveal the secrets of his technique in an hour long programme to be shown on Friday (11.09.09).
Derren told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "I realise there are a lot of questions this brings up and I hope they will be answered on the follow up show.
"For now, I'm really excited and really nervous."
Camelot, who runs Lotto, said they were not worried by Derren's stunt, and assured their draw is unable to be influenced by any outside sources.
A spokesperson said: "Seventy per cent of the adult population will be trying to predict the six lucky numbers for Wednesday night's Lotto draw. It is impossible to affect the outcome of the draw and Derren Brown is not suggesting this.
"He is an illusionist creating an illusion that he can predict the numbers. We wish Derren the best of luck."
The stunt is the first of four 'events' planned by Derren over the next few weeks. His next trick, How To Control the Nation, will aim to leave thousands of viewers unable to get up off their seats after being shown a specially made film.
