Axis of Awesome have been causing musical mayhem in Scotland at this year’s Edinburgh Festival. The Australian trio have been delighting audiences with their unique mix of comedy songs and pop parodies, with new tune Floppy Guys proving a hit with men and women alike.

The awesome band is made up of lead singer Jordan Raskopoulos, keyboard player Benny David and guitarist Lee Naimo, and their most recent show is full of classic hits, new songs and plenty of jokes to keep fans happy. Speaking to STV’s Michael MacLennan, Jordan joked:

Axis of Awesome bring comedy mayhem to Edinburgh Festival

“People don’t remember that before we did musical comedy we were all about knife fighting, so we’ve brought a lot of that back into the show. We get some leather straps and tie our wrists together.”

Axis of Awesome became internet sensations after their pop tune Four Chord Song became the highest rated comedy video of all time on YouTube, receiving over 20 million hits. The trio have continued to grow in popularity, with three sold-out Fringe shows and appearances on Comedy Rocks and Comic Relief.

The band’s newest comedy song Floppy Guys was written after Jordan bought a floppy guy from a used car dealership. Benny explained:

“It’s actually based on a true story. It’s essentially a character not dissimilar to Jordan who was driving along and saw those floppy guys.

“Jordan bought one and didn’t know what to do with it so we decided to write a song about floppy guys.”

Axis of Awesome will be performing at Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh from August 5 until August 29 at 9.30pm. Tickets are available to buy from the Edinburgh Festival website.
