Edinburgh Art Festival opened by Sir Peter Blake

Sir Peter Blake made a rare visit to Scotland on Wednesday to launch the Edinburgh Art Festival.

Sir Peter, the celebrated creator of the seminal Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover, will premiere some of his own work at the festival at the Edinburgh Printmaker.

His Venice Suite of paintings will be amongst those staged.

His work will be a part of a huge range of artwork going on display at 50 galleries and public spaces across the city over the next month.

The festival will highlight the creativity of some of the world’s leading contemporary artists from both Britain and the International stage.

This year, there will be 11 extra display areas.
