Hello, what’s your name, and what on earth are you going to be doing in Edinburgh this August?

Milo McCabe – I’m doing a show in the Gilded Balloon at 5.45 called Kenny Moon – This is Your Life.

Tell us more about your show...

It’s a show about my dad’s life as a comic, with me playing various real-life characters from his past in a This Is Your Life format. My dad’s also in the show.

How are you preparing for your marathon Fringe run?

My motto this year has been ‘train hard, fight easy’. I want to get all the stress and worry out of the way before the run, so everything’s in place and I can have fun. There’s nothing worse than doing an committing to Edinburgh with a half-finished product…believe me I know!

Food and/or drink – what do you take to keep you going through the madness?

This might sound a bit weird and I’m not sponsored or anything, but I swear by a product called Alpha Brain from www.onnit.com. Even if the benefit is purely psychosomatic, it really works for me.

London’s taken some of the hype with the Olympics this year – what do you think is the best way for Edinburgh to grab it back?

Edinburgh doesn’t need to try. It’s a unique experience for anyone who comes…there’s just this massive edifying buzz of creativity and excitement running through the air from the minute you get there to the minute you leave.

If you’ve been before, what’s your favourite part of the Edinburgh festivals?

The day off and the night after the last show. Also the day before nominations, where everyone who might be in the running is purely shitting themselves.

What would be your biggest piece of advice to any performers coming to Edinburgh for the first time?

Start writing the show 18 months before you get there.

Whoever else are you most excited to see in Edinburgh this year?

George Ryegold, Dr Brown and Maff Brown’s new sketch group Parade Of This.

What’s been your most memorable festival experience?

Getting to the final of the Amused Moose Laughter Awards in 2011. I got beaten by Tony Law, but got a lovely moose trophy. Also having Denise Welch and Tim Healy come and see the show twice last year, bringing Nick Berry the second time. That was pretty surreal.

Any favourite Scottish word/phrase?

Baws.

What would be your best tip for any punters coming to their first Fringe?

Plan your day in advance or you’ll wonder round in a ditz and end up seeing nothing.
