Hello, what’s your name, and what on earth are you going to be doing in Edinburgh this August?
My name is Joel Dommett and I shall be doing a stand up show called 'Nunchuck Silver Medalist 2002'. Tis ace.
Tell us more about your show
Its about being a Nunchuck protégé and defeating my 13-year-old arch nemesis.
If you’re doing a marathon Fringe run, how are you preparing for your marathon Fringe run?
I've been staying up till 5 in the morning every night eating only sausage rolls and walking up and down relentless hills for 2 months in preparation. I think I'm ready.
Food and/or drink – what do you take to keep you going through the madness?
I really do survive mainly on sausage rolls. There is this bakery on Nicholson Street that blows my soon to be obese mind.
London’s taken some of the hype with the Olympics this year – what do you think is the best way for Edinburgh to grab it back?
I've stolen Usain Bolt.
If you’ve been before, what’s your favourite part of the Edinburgh festivals?
Just how beautifully epic it is. You can see a show of your favourite comedians from TV, then a new exciting comedian, then a student play with naked people weeing on each other. INCREDIBLE
What would be your biggest piece of advice to any performers coming to Edinburgh for the first time?
Go watch as much stuff as you can because you will regret it if you don't when you return to back to normality in September. My show can be one of those if you want. No pressure though.
Whoever else are you most excited to see in Edinburgh this year?
Nick Helm, Benny Boot, James Acaster. They are fully brilliant.
What’s been your most memorable festival experience?
A student play with naked people weeing on each other.
Any favourite Scottish word/phrase?
Saying 'Edith Bowman' in a Scottish accent is incredibly satisfying.
And what would be your best tip for any punters coming to their first Fringe?
See a show of a comedian you know, then one you have been recommended, then take a punt on one you have been given the flyer for. If you follow these simple steps, you will have an INCREDIBLE time. And see my show. Obviously.
