Usually seen hilariously inflicting pain upon himself, undertaking madman stunts or just generally being a Jackass, Steve-O was in a rare moment of reflection when STV caught up with him.

Asked about the tragic loss of his former co-star Ryan Dunn, and whether that translated through into his live performances, he said: "There's been shows where I've taken some time to recognise and pay tribute.  There's not really a punchline on a joke about Ryan Dunn or anything."

Later he said: "It's sad.  It's sad and it doesn't seem real, you know?  I feel like it's not really sunk in.  It kinda hits me in waves.  To think 'wow we really lost Ryan Dunn, that's forever' - it's tough to believe that that's true, even.  It's not real, you know?"

Ryan Dunn, part of the main cast of Jackass and beloved friend of the whole group, died in car crash in June earlier this year.  The news devastated Steve-O, Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Wee Man, Chris Pontius, the rest of the Jackass cast and crew, not to mention a world of adoring fans.

Looking back on fond memories of Scotland, Steve-O recalls: "Ryan Dunn was with me last time I was in Scotland.  We were actually going around on this tour bus and he choked me unconscious six times in a row one day.  I'll never forget that. That was up there with the craziest things I've ever done."

On his return to Scotland for this year's Edinburgh Festival, Steve-O is determined to keep the Jackass spirit alive through his crazy new stand-up show Steve-O.

Steve-O is at the Liquid Rooms tonight and tomorrow night.  For tickets and information visit the Edinburgh Festival pages.
