Since her last time in Edinburgh, multi-Fringe awards winner and nominee Josie Long has presented a six-month run on BBC6 Music Saturday Breakfast, performed another sell-out UK tour, appeared on Dave’s One Night Stand and writes a monthly comic strip for The Guardian.

For The Future Is Another Place? last year she went more political, and her new show Romance and Adventure is set to be silly and fun. Oh, and she's promising to swear less this time...

**Hello, what’s your name, and what on earth are you going to be doing in Edinburgh this August? **

Hello! My name is Josie Long and I am doing a show called Romance and Adventure at the Pleasance one, every night at 6pm.

Tell us more about your show...

It's my sixth solo stand-up show and it's about mountain climbing and turning 30 and how to keep going when things are tricky, but that makes it sound boring. There's lots of silliness and a bit where I pretend to sort of be Godzilla.

If you’re doing a marathon Fringe run, how are you preparing for your marathon Fringe run?

I am trying not to freak out and I am trying to make sure my show isn't rubbish! Both are feeling very difficult I'm afraid.

Food and/or drink – what do you take to keep you going through the madness?

I eat a lot of porridge oatcakes to celebrate being in Scotland. That's my secret. My official performance secret.

London****’s taken some of the hype with the Olympics this year – what do you think is the best way for Edinburgh to grab it back?

Oh god, I am just going to be so glad to be out of London during the Orwellian nightmare of the games. I think Edinburgh is already luring sane people away from the Olympics by being choc full of culture and excitement and art all month!

If you’ve been before, what’s your favourite part of the Edinburgh festivals?

I love seeing my friends' shows, it's inspiring and wonderful to see people I respect bringing up their best work.

What would be your biggest piece of advice to any performers coming to Edinburgh for the first time?

Try to exercise and never read ANY reviews of anyone, it's honestly the key to a happy year.

Whoever else are you most excited to see in Edinburgh this year?

Claudia O'Doherty – wonderful aussie comic. Kieran and Joe – exciting double act. Sheeps – comedy trio that are great! So many people.

What’s been your most memorable festival experience?

I really love doing the show on Arthur's Seat each year, winning the Best Newcomer award was pretty wonderful, hosting a boggle championships 2005-8, seeing Jackson's Way in 2005 - oh man, a hundred things!

Any favourite Scottish word/phrase?

Pure belter.

And what would be your best tip for any punters coming to their first Fringe?

See as much as possible and see people that you haven't heard of, at the very least it'll be weird and often a weird thing is as fun as a good thing!
